You Won’t Want To Miss It
Industry Xchange is an education and networking event for professional meeting and event planners. Gain new perspectives on key trends and issues facing the meetings industry today and what they mean for your business opportunities and beyond.
In collaboration with Choose Chicago’s Annual Meeting, this year’s Industry XChange will celebrate Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) from an authentic Chicago perspective. Join us as Tom Ricketts, Chairman and owner of the Chicago Cubs, is honored with a special award from Choose Chicago. We will also have a chance to meet Chicago’s newest “Chief Meetings Ambassador”, David Whitaker, President & CEO of Choose Chicago. David will share his vision of building on Chicago’s amazing success story for meetings, conferences and expos.
The morning will wrap up with an interactive panel discussion that will focus on the new realities facing our industry today, from tourism meetings infrastructure, state and federal legislation, safety, security and technology to visitor perceptions on how they impact where we place our meetings.
What is GMID?
Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) is a global meeting initiative driven through the Meetings Mean Business partnership. Meetings Mean Business is an industry-wide coalition to showcase the undeniable value that business meetings, trade shows, incentive travel, exhibitions, conferences and conventions bring to people, businesses and communities.
By rallying industry advocates, working with stakeholders, conducting original research, engaging with outside voices and more, the coalition brings the industry together to emphasize its importance. Comprised of over 60 members, the coalition unites the meetings industry with one strong and powerful voice. In 2016, MMB partners hosted over 100 events in more than 30 countries in all corners of the globe to showcase the real power of meetings, events, conventions, exhibitions and more.
This year, Chicago will take center stage as we celebrate GMID Chicago-style by partnering with Choose Chicago and their Annual Meeting.
