Meetings Mean Business. Trends Matter. You Are Key.
The meetings industry in Chicago is big and bold. Be a part of your meeting community at this year’s Industry Xchange. Join us at the new Wintrust Arena on Thursday, April 12, 2018 and be part of the most important day in Chicago’s meetings and event industry. This year’s Industry Xchange (IX) will explore today’s most compelling issues and celebrate our industry as we again collaborate with Choose Chicago. It will be a truly unique, exciting and very different experience!
In partnership with Choose Chicago, we show the world how Chicago celebrates Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID). Get an update on Chicago’s tourism and meeting initiatives during the Choose Chicago Annual Meeting. After that, you will play an active role in the discussion at a unique IX session where we will unpack three issues facing our industry today.
Jack Johnson, Chief Advocacy Officer for Destinations International will share his perspective on alarming research regarding travel bans and their impact on our industry. Industry expert Joan Eisenstodt will then talk about #metoo in the meetings industry and how we have or haven’t moved the needle on diversity and inclusion. In celebration of GMID, Christy Lamagna, Founder of Strategic Meetings & Events will lead us through a new thought process on how we tell our story, both internally and externally to all our stakeholders. You must weigh in on these issues at IX 2018 as we dig deep into perceptions, messaging our value and articulating how meetings and events are changing our world.
What is GMID?
Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) is a global meeting initiative driven through the Meetings Mean Business partnership. Meetings Mean Business is an industry-wide coalition to showcase the undeniable value that business meetings, trade shows, incentive travel, exhibitions, conferences and conventions bring to people, businesses and communities.
By rallying industry advocates, working with stakeholders, conducting original research, engaging with outside voices and more, the coalition brings the industry together to emphasize its importance. Comprised of over 60 members, the coalition unites the meetings industry with one strong and powerful voice. In 2016, MMB partners hosted over 100 events in more than 30 countries in all corners of the globe to showcase the real power of meetings, events, conventions, exhibitions and more.
