Assistant General Manager of Entertainment, McCormick Place
David Kennedy is an events industry veteran with more than 25 years in event and entertainment management. He is the Assistant General Manager of Entertainment at McCormick Place, North America’s largest convention center managed by SMG, a world-wide venue and event management company. In this capacity, Mr. Kennedy oversees the Arie Crown Theater, which is one of the largest proscenium arch theaters in Chicago, and the Wintrust Arena at McCormick Square. The 10,000 seat arena and entertainment venue is anchored by DePaul University collegiate basketball teams and slated to open in the fall of 2017.
Prior to his current position, he was the Director of Special Events for the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. He was previously Deputy Director of Recreation & Program Services for the Chicago Park District, Director of Sports Development for the Mayor’s Office of Special Events and Venue Logistic Manager for The Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games.
A graduate of Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, with a bachelor’s degree in business management, Mr. Kennedy is also an executive committee member of the Chicago Sports Commission and with Swim Across America – Chicago.
